Welcome to XXI MEDYFINOL!

XXI Conference on Non equilibrium Statistical Mechanics and Nonlinear Physics

Mecánica Estadística del Desequilibrio y Física Nolineal

MEDYFINOL 2022
8-10 December, 2022
Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay

Organized by:
  • Arturo Marti, Instituto de Física, Facultad de Ciencias,  Universidad de la República, Uruguay
  • Orazio Descalzi,Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Universidad de los Andes, Chile
  • Cristina Masoller, Departament de Fisica, Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya, Spain.
  • Osvaldo Rosso, Universidad Federal de Alagoas, Brazil

The MEDYFINOL conference series was conceived in 1986 as a means of collecting researchers in various branches of the physics of nonequilibrium and dynamical systems, mostly in Argentina and neighboring countries, aiming at broadening the scope to attract colleagues from all over the world. Thirty six years have elapsed and we can ascertain that MEDYFINOL is firmly established in the international community as one of the most important regular meetings in the field.

This XXI MEDYFINOL follows a series of meetings that took place in Santiago de Chile (2018), Valdivia, Chile (2016); Maceió, Brazil (2014); Santiago, Chile (2012); Punta de Este, Uruguay (2008); Mar del Plata, Argentina (2006); La Serena, Chile (2004); Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay (2002); Huerta Grande, Córdoba (1999); Canela, Brazil (1997); Tucumán, Argentina (1996); San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina (1995); Montevideo, Uruguay (1994); Mar del Plata, Argentina (1993); Mar del Plata, Argentina (1991); Santiago de Chile, Chile (1990); Puerto Iguazú, Argentina (1989); Mar del Plata, Argentina (1988); Lujan, Argentina (1987); and Lujan, Argentina (1986).

Statistical Mechanics and Nonlinear Physics are research areas that have developed a multidisciplinary character with many applications in biology, physiology, ecology, economics, sociology, etc. The scientific problems discussed in the meeting included: images characterization, biological applications of statistical physics, econophysics and sociologically related problems, chaos and nonlinear dynamics, pattern formation and spatio-temporal complexity, fluids and granular media, nonextensive thermostatistics, irreversible thermodynamics, stochastic processes, lasers and nonlinear optics, synchronization, wavelets and nonlinear time series analysis, complex networks, neuronal and brain dynamics.

The purpose of the MEDYFINOL series of meetings is to keep the Latinamerican scientific community updated with new developments and trends in the statistics and nonlinear physics fields, to incentive collaborative international science programs, and to identify and discuss the most relevant issues in the area. The success of the MEDYFINOL meeting series can be attributed to the presence of eminent speakers; the high quality contributed papers, as well as significant student participation.

The registration fee (100 dollars senior scientists, 50 dollars students) has to be paid in cash at the conference registration desk and will include the welcome drink and the coffee breaks.

The size of the conference room limits the number of participants to 50 participants.

Oral or poster contributions: closed.
